Case Study - Enara

We invest in fragmented growth markets where there are opportunities to create synergies and value through consolidation of the market by investing in a platform company and making additional bolt-on acquisitions.

Enara

Enara was created with the aim of developing a business that provides a range of critical services delivered at home or in the community in order to enhance people’s lives. Enara focuses on care for the elderly and has a regional focus on the south.

Having experience in the home care market through our investment in Lifeways and seeing the strength of the buy-and-build model through our investment in Healthcare Homes Group, we identified the UK home care market as a sector with attractive investment opportunities. It is a fragmented sector with growth prospects driven by long-term demographics and government policy.

In early 2007 we began identifying potential platform targets and establishing relationships with the key management team members.  The initial acquisition of Enara was announced in late 2008.  Since then we have supported the management team in completing 24 bolt-on acquisitions and creating a cohesive care group which has achieved very strong quality ratings from the Care Quality Commission with all branches rated as good or excellent.
