At the time of realisation Vivista provided communications systems to the emergency services, including the UK police forces, fire, ambulance and coastguard services.
We recognised that the business had great scope for growth and development through the optimisation of business processes. We led the £20.5 million management buy-out of Vivista in 2003 investing £8.75 million of equity with a further £11.75 million of debt.
We encouraged the management to review the company’s strategy, embrace a new corporate governance structure and focus on a clear set of objectives. We introduced the team to a strong set of advisers with central government knowledge which improved their understanding of government procurement processes and insight into acceptable acquirers for government-backed contracts. This enabled the team to rollout their products and services at a more rapid pace, which resulted in them performing significantly ahead of plan.
The realisation of Vivista was completed in February 2005 via a trade sale to SunGard Data Systems Inc. for a value of £110 million.
