Fraser Davidson got into the betting spirit in April when he invited advisors from the Midlands region to enjoy a private box at Cheltenham. The day’s races started off well with a win for most in the first race. Unfortunately, as the races went on it seemed the Tote was destined to be the biggest benefactor of the day and hope of early retirement quickly faded into the sunset. Regardless of the results, the day was enjoyed by all.
Philip Rattle and Aatif Hassan plan to get the summer into full swing with some advisers at The Boodles Challenge at the exclusive Stoke Park Club on Friday 20 June. The event has become a ‘must-attend’ summer social gathering where guests get the chance to watch some of the biggest names (including Andy Murray) in world tennis compete in the run up to Wimbledon.
The fifth annual Duffers Day will be held on 18 July at Silvermere Golf Club in Surrey. The day is aimed at providing less-experienced golfers with an introduction to the game, or helping to hone golfing skills. The day will feature the usual awards – Best Shot off the Tee, Best Team Performance and, as always, Worst Shot off the Tee.
Sam Watkinson hosted our Industrial Products & Services Clay Pigeon Shooting Day on 4 June at the Royal Berkshire Shooting School. Following some training in the morning, the group set about the competition in the afternoon, where prizes were awarded for best team performance and the top shot award going to Mark Humphries of Catalyst Corporate Finance.
Andrew Hartley spoke recently at the EVCA Advanced Course training course, which is aimed at enhancing professionals’ knowledge and understanding of private equity. He also spoke at Livingstone Partners’ “To Consolidate or be Consolidated” conference on the topic ‘How to create value in marketing services’. Aatif Hassan also recently spoke at Deloitte’s Young Corporate Finance Conference. Ian Grant spoke at the SOFNET Conference presenting on investors’ perspective and Software as a Service.
The team at August Equity is hoping to take advantage of the summer weather – and we are doing our best ensure our network does the same. A series of summer outings is planned, such as cricket days at Lord’s and the Oval and racing at Ascot and Goodwood.
