August Equity LLP’s (“August Equity”) portfolio company, Active Assistance (“Active”), has completed the bolt-on acquisition of Neural Pathways (UK) Limited (“Neural Pathways”).
Neural Pathways was established in 2004 and provides specialised outcome based rehabilitation therapy for individuals with a range of neurological conditions including acquired brain injury, stroke, spinal injury, multiple sclerosis, Huntingdon’s disease and Parkinson’s disease. Neural Pathways offers therapy provided by an award-winning and specialised team of occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists and clinical neuropsychologists.
Active is a national provider of complex and clinical care service for adults and children. August Equity initially invested in Active in March 2010 when its managed funds committed £23 million to the business. Since then Active has acquired South West based, Qura Brain Injury Services. Active now provides care to 350 service users and has over 700 employees.
Ejaz Nabi, managing director of Active, commented: “Neural Pathways has a strong presence in the North East. It delivers very high quality bespoke rehabilitation packages to people with catastrophic neurolological conditions, some of which are new areas of care for Active. We are committed to extending these services throughout our business.”
August Equity partner, Aatif Hassan, said: “Neural Pathways is a notable bolt-on for Active. It strengthens Active’s position as a leading complex care provider and establishes a new service offering within a range of neurological conditions.”
