Imagine publishes consumer magazine titles in the videogames, computing and digital photography sectors and was launched in 2005 by three former directors of Paragon Publishing.
In 2006, the Group acquired a portfolio of magazine titles from Highbury Entertainment Limited ("Highbury") which included key titles such as Play, X360, gamesTM, Advanced Photoshop, iCreate and Digital Photographer. Post acquisition, Imagine is one of the UK's fastest growing consumer specialist publishers and has strengthened its presence in the videogames, computing and digital photography markets.
The Imagine management team, headed by Damian Butt, has launched over 60 magazines in the last ten years including the titles that were acquired from Highbury in 2006. Imagine has recently launched Photoshop Creative eMag, Sci-Fi Now and the Next3 website. Imagine completed a recapitalisation in June 2007.
The August Equity team had known Damian Butt and his colleagues for some time and was keen to support Imagine in its strategic development. It was this long-standing relationship that enabled the team to complete the transaction in only two weeks. In November 2007, Imagine appointed Alistair Ramsay as chairman.
