At the time of realisation Vivista provided communications systems to the emergency services, including the UK police forces, fire, ambulance and coastguard services.
In addition, Vivista developed three strategic software applications under the National Strategy for Police Information Systems ("NSPIS"). Vivista had a secure position as the implementer and maintainer of those applications which were planned to be rolled out to the 43 English and Welsh police forces by 2006. The management team was led by Bruce Brain, chief executive.
August Equity led the £20.5 million MBO of Vivista in 2003 investing £8.75 million of equity with a further £11.75 million of debt provided by GE. Significant financial outperformance and a flexible deal structure enabled the early repayment of the debt and equity gearing. August Equity influenced the company's planning and corporate governance through the use of a 100 Day Plan and a Key Milestones Plan and in addition introduced Richard Moon as chairman to assist with strategic business planning.
The realisation of Vivista was completed in February 2005 via a trade sale to SunGard Data Systems Inc. for a value of £110 million.
