Imagine acquires Linux User & Developer

August Equity portfolio company Imagine Publishing has acquired the specialist computer magazine Linux User & Developer and its companion website – www.linuxuser.co.uk

It is the only magazine written specifically for Linux professionals and IT decision makers. The magazine will be redesigned as part of a strategy which will also see a widening of its worldwide distribution, a redeveloped website, and a new subscriptions offer.

Enara completes private pay acquisition

August Equity portfolio company Enara has acquired The Care Agency Limited, a privately owned specialist private pay provider of live-in carers.

The Care Agency provides carers to clients throughout the United Kingdom enabling them to remain in the comfort of their own homes. The business provides care to the elderly, those in need of post-operative care, end of life and respite care.

Boat acquires Showboats

August Equity portfolio company Boat International has acquired Showboats International, the USA’s premier luxury yacht publication, for an undisclosed value.

Showboats is highly complementary to Boat’s existing portfolio of superyacht media assets. Boat will continue to invest in Showboats and will merge its own US magazine, Boat International USA, with the title from the next issue.

Richard Vertigan, CEO, and Steve Nelson, finance director, of 4Projects, an August Equity portfolio company, have been jointly named as an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year North and Midlands region award winner. The pair will go on to represent the North and Midlands in the UK finals of the Entrepreneur Of The Year 2009 programme.

Academy Honor for Hat Trick

August Equity portfolio company Hat Trick Productions has been awarded a 2009 Television Academy Honor for their production ‘God On Trial‘.

The awards established in 2008 by the American Television Academy (the group that runs the Emmy Awards) recognises “Television with a Conscience - achievements in programming that present issues of concern to our society in a compelling, emotional and insightful way."

God on Trial was produced for both the BBC and WGBH in Boston and screened in the US on PBS.

HealthInvestor commendation

August Equity has received a commendation in the investor’s category at the HealthInvestor Awards 2009. The award is a reflection of the busy period the healthcare team has had since January 2008.
