Industrial Products Day

Sam Watkinson and Keith Davidson hosted the second Industrial Products Clay Pigeon Shoot on Friday 24 April at the Royal Berkshire Shooting School. The day began with training in the morning followed by a competition in the afternoon, where prizes were awarded for best team performance and the top shot.

Healthcare Networking Day

Following a magnificent day at the 2008 Boodles Challenge Philip Rattle and Aatif Hassan will again bring healthcare guests along to the event at the Stoke Park Club on Friday 19 June. The event provides the chance to watch some of the biggest names in world tennis compete in the run up to Wimbledon.

Duffers Day

Fraser Davidson will be hosting our annual August Equity Duffers Golf Day on Friday  26 June 2009 at the Silvermere Golf Club in Surrey. Duffers Day is in its sixth year and proves to be a very popular event. The day is aimed at more ‘amateur’ golfers and will give attendees an introduction to golf or help to hone their current golfing skills. The day will begin with tuition from the experts  and will culminate in a Texas Scramble competition in the afternoon.

Speaking Slots

Aatif Hassan, investment director, will be speaking at the Network 2009 event on 17 September at The Park Lane Hotel. The event is aimed at senior executives in the Retirement Village, CCRC, Care Home and Over 50s Housing sector.

Richard Green, chairman, will speak at the Private Equity 2009 conference in May on a panel discussing the topic “Identifying New Portfolio Strategies in Current Market Conditions”. Richard Green has also recently become a member of the Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales.

STIRing it up

August Equity hosted the recent Second Tuesday in Reading (“STIR”) event on 10 March in Carluccios, Reading. The networking event was well attended with over 120 members of the advisory community. The STIR event was established with the aim of building strong relationships between advisors and the private equity community.

Right on Cue

The second annual August Equity Pool Competition took place at Bar 19:20 in London on 29 January. 12 teams from advisory firms competed against each other and August Equity in an attempt to claim the tournament trophy. The competition was fierce but was ultimately won by the Clearwater Corporate Finance team consisting of Marcus Archer and Perri Blakely.

In the running

The August Equity team would like to congratulate David Lonsdale, investment manager, for completing the recent Flora London Marathon on 26 April.  David ran to raise funds for the Spinal Injury Association and to date has secured over £2,000. Well done David.

Cranleigh Foundation

Sam Watkinson, partner, has recently been appointed a trustee of the Cranleigh Foundation. The foundation raises funds to sponsor Bursary Awards which enables disadvantaged local children to attend Cranleigh School. It also aims to develop a number of projects whereby the local community can benefit from Cranleigh School's facilities.
